PROVENANCE: Acquired by Mr. and Mrs. John Sand in Hong Kong around 1956 and thence by descent.
Lin Hsiung-hsiang (1896-1973) was a distinguished Taiwanese scholar, calligrapher, and poet of the illustrious Lin Benyuan family of Banqiao. Educated in the Chinese classical tradition under Chen Baochen and later at Gakushūin in Tokyo, he became one of Taiwan's leading literary figures and served as chief editor and chairman of the Taiwan Provincial Historical Commission, playing a pivotal role in the compilation of the Draft Gazetteer of Taiwan Province.
